Various committees at St. Timothy’s work in sundry ways to make our church an inviting and welcoming space.

Education

Educational opportunities are available for all ages.

EPISCOPAL 101 – Rev. Linda hosts an informal Q&A after service during coffee hour. All are invited to learn more about the church history, prayer book, church calendar, and seasons of worship.

YOUTH EDUCATION – Christian education for youth is conducted during the school year. Youth attend the opening of the service and then are dismissed to attend their educational programs. They return to the sanctuary in time for communion.

ADULT EDUCATION – During the school year, book study is offered starting at 10:00 am in the Parish House. Books are recommended by attendees and are read and discussed each week.

Communications

This committee supports the activities of the church by sharing with the congregation the church’s activities.

Parchment– Published monthly, the newsletter shares what is planned for the next month, birthdates and anniversaries, information about our diocese and national church, and other information.

Church Directory- Periodically distributed via email by our church administrator, members of the committee keep the directory updated including reaching new members for their contact information and photos.

Website, Instagram and Facebook – The website is a key repository for information about our church. Photos of events, the current newsletter, Rev. Linda’s monthly letters and the church calendar are available in one location.

To submit photos and/or information for Social Media or the website, please contact the church or email your photo with information to timothyschurch@gmail.com. You can also tag us online at https://www.facebook.com/sttimscalhoun or at https://www.instagram.com/calhounsttimothys/

Live Streaming the Church Service– Assist on Sunday mornings with the Live Stream of the service. Volunteers are needed. Contact Jess Shirley to learn about this critical part of our ministry to our homebound, traveling, and long-distance members.

Outreach

This group is charged with identifying local needs and opportunities for service and support.  St. Timothy’s supports local families and causes as well as diocesean charities and causes. Additionally, we coordinate opportunities for our members to become directly involved with local outreach programs.

Donations to Carol’s Closet – Named after St. Timothy’s very own Carol Vedrody, Carol’s Closet and St. Timothy’s support families by supplying personal hygiene items and laundry products for the Gordon County Family Resource Center. Angela White, director of Family Resource Center, noted that there are an average of twenty-five families with children under 18 years per week seeking assistance for items stocked in Carol’s Closet.

50th Anniversary – St. Timothy’s celebrated 52 Years by donating Birthday Kits to the Gordon County Family Crisis Center . The Outreach Committee collected ingredients for 52 Birthday Kits to be distributed by the DV Outreach office here in Gordon County. Each kit contained a cake mix, a can of soda, frosting, sprinkles, candles, a greeting card, paper plates, and napkins in a reusable cake pan. The soda with the cake mix eliminates the need for an egg and oil to make the cake.

Christmas in July – The church collected donations of underwear for the most in-need children in our schools as they prepare to return to school. In 2025, we provided packages of undies to 64 youth. A total of 269 children were served by the Christmas in July event.

Christmas for Kids – Through the Vounary Action Center, St. Timothy’s coordinates sponsorship for more than 50 children in order to provide them with a holiday gift experience.
